Magellan 500 Years of the Circumnavigation

Council of Ministers Resolution 24/2027 set up the Mission Structure to Commemorate the fifth Centenary on the Circumnavigation (EMCFM) headed over by the Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan (2019-2022).

This Structure, together with academic institutions, civil society, municipalities and other private and public bodies, among which the SGPCM – organised several commemorative initiatives until 2022, the year which celebrated 500 years of the first trip around the world.
