Projeto RInovar

Semana Europeia da Prevenção de Resíduos

The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) ran from 21 to 29 November 2020. This campaign to raise awareness of waste prevention on a European level kicked off in 2009 and is organised every year by the European Commission and other European bodies.

In 2020, the subject of the European Week for Waste Reduction was “Invisible Waste”. The aim was to alert to the massive amount of waste generated in the manufacturing process of the products we buy, as well as the waste produced by consuming such products.

The initiative aimed at engaging public and private bodies, as well as civil society, to draw awareness among the population of the problem of waste through several initiatives, workshops, and other activities around the theme, protecting our planet’s sustainability and motivating consumers and entities to adopt more environmentally sustainable behaviours and habits.

The Secretariat-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (SGPCM) took part in the 2020 edition of the European Week for Waste Reduction with the project “RInnovate – Give objects a second life”, for which it created a platform to exchange, donate, and reuse objects, accessible to all SGPCM workers, thereby contributing to reducing waste by encouraging reuse.
