Media@ção Competition – 2024 EDITION

 

The aim of the Media@ção Competition is to incentivise critical, responsible, and creative use of the media through citizenship and freedom of expression. It is aimed at all basic, secondary and vocational schooling students.

The theme for the 2024 Media@ção Competition  was “The Media, Human Rights, and Peace” and aimed at promoting reflection on the role of the media in the current context of threats to peace and human rights.

There were many different approaches to the theme, yet all required associating the issue of human rights and/or peace with the role of the media, which is why some of the assignments received could not be recognised, as they didn’t include that relationship.

The results of the Media@ção Competition 2024 are as follows:

Basic schooling Category

1st Prize

The revolution that determined our history (video) - Escola Básica Padre António Luís Moreira, Agrupamento de Escolas de Carvalhos.

Secondary schooling Category

1 st Prize

The false reality (video) - Escola Secundária du Bocage, Setúbal.

2nd Prize

A woman (video) - Escola Secundária du Bocage, Setúbal.

Honourable Mentions:

The last trench (video) - Escola Básica de Argoncilhe, Agrupamento de Escolas de Argoncilhe;

I’m done (animation) - Escola Secundária Filipa de Vilhena, Porto;

Do the media keep us away or closer to one another? (video) - Escola Básica e Secundária de Barroselas, Agrupamento de Escolas de Barroselas.

The media: a double-edged sword (video) - Escola Básica 23 Martim de Freitas, Coimbra, Agrupamento de Escolas Martim de Freitas, Coimbra.

The assignments will be uploaded onto the  Media@ção Competition  YouTube channel.
